I have 1 question to direct to CCP Tanis in his crusade to kill the lag.
How does the jump mechanic work on gates and cynos? I have noticed with both capital jumping and gate jumping you are put at the edge of a sphere S, at a radial distance of 15km from the point/gated. R =15.
I am assuming that the mechanic is 15 = x sin (theta) + y cosine(theta) to assign a ship a jump in location within that radius = 15km sphere along the gate and or cyno field.
If this is the case how does the mechanic compensate for when there is a ship at that location?
Say ship B was supposed to jump in to system but Ship F is at the location where the mechanic tells Ship B to land. Does the mechanic re-iterate itself and try to find a new open spot for ship B?
I ask this because within a sphere or a 15km radius there is only soo many place a ship can land w/o interfeering with another ship that maybe already there. So like you stated there are some internal and client problems, what if the jump mechanic itself is fundementally flawed and there are just too many people trying to fit in the same spot.
Remember it is impoosible for 2 objects to occupy the same space at the same time. Unfortunately you run out of space when there are 500 people already in it. I wish i could explain this better but it has been a while since i have used polar coordinates to explain something.

EvE jukebox
Why doesn't it still play the soundtrack all the way through?

I have another one
Directed to CCP tanis
test server post This user brings up an interesting point, is a lot or problems coming from the combination of the fleet menu with the fleet finder menu? Have you guys tried removing the fleet finder for 1 patch on the test server to see what happens?
The fleet finder is a good idea but after reading that post I can see where that might cause problems.

I want ponies, but also a good QnA regularly would be nice.
State of EvE blogs once a quarter is nice also.

CCP Manifest -
To give you a response to what I would like to see in a state of eve blogs I would like to suggest the following.
Total dev team size / groups / and the goals of each of those groups for the quarter / bi-annual goal, overall goal of the dev team.
What was tossed onto the drawing board, brief summary of the popular ideas, the dumb ideas and the crazy ones like eve ships that combine to make a megazord.
What is being currently tested on sisi, and sisi's current running system.
What bugs you are currently addressing, what are they, and where can we go to help you as players to isolate them and destroy them.
Server status, what are you running, what broke, what needs to be fixed, how much pron was downloaded onto it.
GM mentions like common petitions, what is causing trouble etc.
list a set of goals that you would like the players to vote on either link to a survey or something. your goals should be our goals lets pick them together and work towards them as a community ingame stuff.
total ships in game ships destroyed - isk total # of war decs # of concordokkens some fun stuff like that.
I would say treat it like a quarterly investors meeting, so general stuff really, maybe dept reports, gm reports, isd, bh's etc. Maybe a word from hillmar, oveur, hammerfall, pann themselves. We the players are investors in your company, cept our dividend return is a kick ass game!
These are suggestions, I am well aware you might not to be able to share everything as there are of course company secrets and I respect that, can't share everything. There are a lot of eve wannabe's out there and we dont want them copying the game.
I kinda envision it like the quarterly economic report, but written by the devs/gms/isd/bh.
I do wish the dev blogs to continue as they provide absolute specifics of development, the quarterly dev report/state of eve, could be more of an overall, "big picture" sort of thing.
Its 1 am here and I am kinda rambling. Hopefully Zeba and the others can decipher my ramblings and clear it up to be something more specific.

Actually what I have liked about this thread is the dev answers, I know ccp manifest spoke for most of the devs but still good work.
I still cant wait to hear from CCP Soundwave and CCP Tanis about the new inner workings.
Also can we get a new dev CCP OMGthevolcano?
Anyway eagerly awaiting answers to the other questions!

CCP Manifest: You are raising our hopes, but for many of us the hopes of hearing the last of omg you guys suck, or wtf fix the lag, and threads like that.
You have provided many answers and are continuing to provide some more, which is cleansing the typical flame storms that blow through here. I would also like to thank you for taking mine, and many of my fellow pilots suggestions and questions into consideration.
I hope we can continue to work on them and or discuss specifics if any of these ideas get approved. I assume the ultimate goal of this thread is better dev / player contact, communication and working together to build a bigger better eve so far that goal seems to have been accomplished. W/O the lag of course.
Keep up the work CCP Tanis!
PS. Manifest, when will be your blog about what has come from this? I think it would be really interesting to see what you, the dev team, the gm team decide to do.
Cheers O.H.
